🤒 What is Keto flu?

Updated this week

Keto flu is a short-term reaction some people experience when starting a keto diet.

It is not an illness, but a response to changes in how the body processes energy and fluids.

🔄 Why Keto flu happens

When carbs are reduced:

  • Insulin levels drop

  • The body releases stored water

  • Electrolytes (like sodium and potassium) may decrease

These changes can temporarily affect how you feel.

🚨 Common Keto Flu Symptoms

Some people may experience:

  • Headache

  • Fatigue

  • Irritability

  • Dizziness

  • Muscle cramps

  • Sugar cravings

  • Digestive changes

  • Difficulty concentrating

Symptoms usually start within a few days and last about one week.
